Gurugram Resident Posts Video of Flooded Cars Following Heavy Rainfall

The video has accumulated more than 3 million views.

Gurugram recently experienced heavy rainfall, resulting in severe waterlogging and flooding in various areas of the city. A resident named Gajodhar Singh posted a video on Instagram showing his luxury cars, including BMW and Mercedes, partially submerged. Mr. Singh mentioned that his high-end vehicles were damaged due to the rainfall and criticized Gurugram authorities, questioning whether his tax payments are justified given the poor infrastructure and lack of official response.

“This isn’t Mumbai or Bangalore; welcome to the metro city of India, Gurugram/Gurgaon,” he wrote in the caption. “I pay my taxes and bills only to wake up one day to see my house, my BMW, Mercedes, and i20 stranded and damaged. No authorities or officials have shown up to address the situation, and I feel so broken right now. All I had was my car for some enjoyment, and it’s all gone. No crane can even enter this deep water; I tried that,” he added.

Mr. Singh shared the video just a day ago, and it has since garnered over 3 million views, sparking significant outrage. “Such a shame. And the government expects people to happily pay heavy taxes just to get flooded. Absolute joke,” commented one user.

“This isn’t about where you live; it’s the same across India. They’re good at chasing votes and collecting taxes, but when it comes to actually doing their job, they’re missing in action. That’s how governance is in India,” wrote another.

“The fact that he is trying to remain calm and handle the situation professionally… mad respect,” expressed a third user.

Another user tagged the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram and wrote, “Are these the conditions we should be living in despite this being such an advanced city? This is unacceptable! The drainage system is non-existent, which is one of the basics here. Additionally, the roads are in rough condition despite the taxes being paid.”

“Yeah, I think we deserve this. We throw garbage on the streets, clogging the drains. The municipality is least interested in proactively cleaning the drains before monsoon. What else would we expect?” commented another Instagram user.
