Wayanad Landslide LIVE Updates: At least 63 individuals have been deceased and several are dreaded to be entangled after massive landslides struck Wayanad in the wee hours today as intense precipitation persisted in Kerala.
250 members of the Fire and Rescue, Civil Defence, NDRF, and Local Emergency Response Teams are participating in the rescue operation. An extra team of NDRF has been instructed to arrive at the location immediately, as stated by the officials.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan guaranteed all potential rescue operations to be managed in the landslides in Wayanad.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed sorrow over the loss of lives in landslides and guaranteed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of all possible support from the Centre to address the crisis.
The prime minister proclaimed a reimbursement of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who perished. The harmed will be granted Rs 50,000.

An Indian Navy team from the Ezhimala Naval Base in Kannur is being dispatched to the district in Kerala to aid in the rescue operations at Chooralmala that was struck by landslides on Tuesday morning, following torrential rains.
The Navy team is being sent, at the plea of Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijayan who requested the assistance of the Navy’s River Crossing team, as per the Chief Minister’s Office. Army and Air Force have also been called in for the rescue operations in the region, which have been obstructed as a primary bridge has crumbled in the town of Chooralmala.
Union Minister JP Nadda expressed sympathy for the lives lost in landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad and wished a swift recovery for those injured in the mishap.
He mentioned that Kerala BJP President Surendran is at the incident site. Nadda added that he has asked all BJP workers in Kerala to help in rescue efforts as per the guidelines and support those in distress.
At least 54 people have died and 250 people have been rescued and shifted to temporary relief camps on Tuesday following a series of massive landslides that struck the hilly areas of Meppadi, Wayanad district, in the early hours of July 30.
Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Tuesday visited the Health Department Directorate and assessed the ongoing arrangements following massive landslides that struck the Meppadi area in Wayanad.
The Kerala Health Minister provided a detailed overview of the situation and instructed for precise tracking of available hospital beds in the affected areas.
Minister George recommended setting up temporary hospitals if necessary and emphasized the need to evaluate the mortuary systems at existing hospitals, including the utilization of mobile mortuaries.

Death Count Rises To 54
At least 54 individuals have been deceased in the landslides caused after heavy rains in Kerala’s Wayanad.
A team of Army personnel have left for landslide-hit Wayanad from Kannur to carry out search and rescue operation.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has ordered postponement of all state government public events scheduled for Tuesday following landslides that hit Wayanad and claimed the lives of at least 43 individuals.
As per the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority, landslides occurred in Meppadi panchayat, Vythiri taluk of Wayanad district, at around 3.49 am on July 30.
According to officials, around 70 individuals have sustained injuries in the massive landslides.

I have requested them to ensure coordination with all agencies, set up a control room, and inform us of any assistance needed for the relief efforts. I will speak to Union Ministers and request them to provide all assistance possible to Wayanad. I urge all UDF workers to assist the administration in the rescue and relief operations.”
On Wayanad landslide, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan says, “Your heart goes out to all those families. I have been told that so far our teams have not been able to reach the landslide site due to heavy rain and that the river has changed its course.”
