Kohli was seen sharing a laugh with head coach Gautam Gambhir during the training session.
‘Chinaman’ spinner Kuldeep Yadav donned pads and gloves for batting practice. Interestingly, Gambhir and Kohli have had disagreements in the past during the IPL but appeared to have reconciled during IPL 2024.
Gambhir recently took over from Rahul Dravid as the coach of the Indian team. KL Rahul wore the gloves and honed his wicketkeeping skills. Shreyas Iyer also participated in the training session. Prior to the ODI series, the T20I segment of the series was held at the Pallekele International Stadium, while the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is set to host the 50-over matches.
The three ODIs are scheduled for August 2, August 4, and August 7. India clinched victory in all three T20Is. Under the new leadership of Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav, India’s tour of Sri Lanka commenced on July 27 with the T20I series, where India secured a 43-run win. In the second T20I, India emerged victorious by seven wickets in a match affected by rain.
