Hunter Biden to face sentencing for gun crime a week following Election Day

Hunter Biden, the offspring of President Joe Biden, will encounter sentencing for his three-count felony conviction on Nov. 13, just one week after the presidential election.

Biden was discovered guilty in June by a Delaware jury of breaking the law when he acquired a firearm in 2018, during a period of substance addiction. For the three felony offenses, Hunter Biden could potentially face up to 25 years in incarceration — although legal specialists anticipate he will not serve time as a first-time and nonviolent transgressor.

Hunter Biden had attempted a new trial in the case, stating his “convictions should be vacated” because trial proceeded before a circuit court officially issued a mandate denying one of his many pretrial appeals. However, last month, his lawyers withdrew their request for a new trial, admitting in court documents that the motion misunderstood a technicality in the district court’s ability to conduct a trial.

He had made several efforts to have the federal charges dismissed before the trial commenced, but to no avail.

President Joe Biden has consistently promised to not grant clemency to his son, including in an interview with “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir.

While the trial was still ongoing, Biden was questioned if he would honor the decision, to which he replied, “Affirmative,” and if he would eliminate the possibility of a pardon for Hunter Biden. Once more, he answered, simply, “Affirmative.”

Hunter Biden confronts a distinct criminal trial in September on federal tax accusations. He has pleaded not guilty.
