Not Often Do We Meet, But MS Dhoni Opens Up About His Bond With Virat Kohli

Former Indian World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni revealed his connection with star India batsman Virat Kohli, with whom he shared numerous memorable moments and partnerships throughout his distinguished career. Dhoni was speaking recently at an event in Hyderabad. Discussing his bond with Virat, Dhoni mentioned that whenever they cross paths, they ensure to engage in a conversation. “We have been teammates representing India for a significant period. He (Kohli) has excelled in international cricket. Collaborating with him in the middle overs was enjoyable as we often focused on scoring twos and threes, making it an enjoyable experience. Although our interactions are infrequent, whenever we do meet, we make it a point to have a chat and catch up on what’s happening in each other’s lives,” Dhoni expressed.
Recently, Virat was part of the triumphant ICC T20 World Cup squad, defeating South Africa in the final by seven runs in Barbados, with the 35-year-old delivering a pivotal 76-run innings in his final T20I for India.
Currently, Virat is engaged in an ODI series during the Sri Lanka tour. The three-match series commenced on Friday.
Dhoni participated in the league’s 2024 season following a successful knee operation. Despite facing occasional challenges and limping on the field, Dhoni’s determination to entertain the fans remained unwavering. In tight situations towards the end of matches, Dhoni compiled 161 runs in 11 innings at an impressive average of 53.66 and a striking rate of 220.54, with a highest unbeaten score of 37 and a total of 14 fours and 13 sixes in the season.
However, CSK failed to secure a playoff spot as they narrowly missed out on qualification due to a defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), finishing fifth with 14 points, recording seven victories and losses each.
