Uncovering the Reality of the Viral Image Showing a Shooter Using a Mirror to Hit a Target at the Paris Olympics

Shortly after Turkish marksman Yusuf Dikec gained online fame for his relaxed demeanor at the Paris Olympics 2024, another image went viral. The new picture depicted a man targeting an object behind him while gazing into a reflection.

As the photo gained traction on social networks, many hailed the marksman as a “fresh legend” and associated him with the Paris Olympics 2024.

However, it was later revealed that the viral image was fabricated. The picture was digitally altered and had no connection to the ongoing competition in Paris.

According to reports, the individual depicted in the photo is not a shooter, but Pongsak Pongsuwan, an actor and comedian from Thailand. The image was carefully edited from the popular Thai television program “Ching Roi Ching Lan”.

Upon viewing the video, it is evident how the actor-comedian’s image was digitally manipulated from the show, with a Paris Olympics backdrop added to it.

Fans took to the comments section to commend Yusuf Dikec, who clinched a silver medal in the Mixed 50m Pistol event. Dikec, aged 51, quickly gained popularity on social media not only for his sharpshooting abilities but also for his relaxed approach to participating in the Olympics event without any specialized equipment.

While shooters typically wear ear defenders and utilize lenses for accuracy and to prevent blurring, Dikec participated in the Mixed 50m Pistol event at the Chateauroux Shooting Complex without these accessories. Instead, he sported prescription glasses and casually tucked his non-shooting hand into his pocket. He went on to secure a silver medal alongside Sevval Ilayda Tarha.
