Dos By Tres: Your Ultimate Destination for Unique Global Street Eats

Have you had the chance to visit Tres in Lodhi? If you have, I’m certain you adore the establishment, not only for its delectable cuisine but also for the atmosphere and service. Dos is the newest culinary sensation from the masterminds behind the acclaimed Tres. Chefs Jatin Mallick and Julia Carmen Desa have once again revolutionized the city’s dining landscape with this innovative project. Their goal? To enhance global street food, infusing it with a touch of gourmet cuisine while upholding a relaxed, lively ambiance.

As a devotee of Tres’s fare, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit Dos when I was invited. Dos exuded a more laid-back, cafĂ©-like feel compared to Tres – making it an ideal spot for a leisurely outing. What captivated me the most was its concept. Dos embodies the celebration of duality. The restaurant’s split-level layout visually represents this concept. On the lower level, a deconstructed colonial aesthetic seamlessly merges with modern vibrancy, while an outdoor area provides a retreat into nature. Upstairs, a serene, lounge-style ambiance beckons guests to unwind. Carefully curated contemporary art and a striking wall sculpture made of traditional crockery further underscore the restaurant’s fusion philosophy.

Dos is a versatile establishment, effortlessly transitioning throughout the day. Whether you desire a leisurely breakfast, a casual lunch, or a late-night hangout, this adaptable space has you covered. The ambiance, even the artwork, changes with the shifting hours, offering unique experiences for morning, afternoon, and evening – the windows of the brick walls opening to darker views at night.

However, the heart of Dos lies in its cuisine. The menu acts as a global passport, transporting diners on a culinary journey without ever leaving Delhi. Familiar flavors are reimagined and harmonized in unexpected ways, transcending geographical boundaries.

I commenced my meal with a revitalizing Cold Pressed Green Juice, the perfect palate cleanser. The Smokey Chipotle Prawns stood out as an exceptional appetizer, with the sweetness of the yellow peas and the crispiness of the onions complementing the prawns perfectly. While the Crispy Fish Chipotle was enjoyable as well, the prawns stole the spotlight.

The Veg Flaky pizza proved to be a delightful revelation. I was pleasantly surprised by how well potatoes complemented the pizza. The topping had a subtle sweetness (possibly from red onions), which was a refreshing departure from conventional pizzas. However, the standout feature was the pizza base, resembling an Indian kulcha. I later discovered that Dos’s pizzas are crafted with potato-fermented dough, imparting a unique texture and flavor. Fascinating!

Another dish that I thoroughly enjoyed was the Prawns, Calamari, Crispy Fish Rice Bowl. If you think that’s quite a mix of ingredients in a bowl, wait until you hear more! It also featured broccoli, salsa, edamame, spinach, and a flavorful seasoning. It was a truly satisfying bowl.

Of course, there was still room in my stomach for desserts. The Banana ice cream was a simple yet delightful treat. The Mango coconut rum tiramisu won me over with its irresistible flavors.

So, if you’re considering a visit to Dos, be sure to sample my top picks – Flaky Pizza, Chipotle Prawns, and Banana Ice Cream.
