Charges Filed Against Uttar Pradesh Police Officer for Allegedly Raping Woman and Coercing Her to Convert to Another Religion

A law enforcement officer has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman from a different community and attempting to persuade her to change her faith, authorities revealed on Sunday.

The perpetrator, Chand Khan also known as Raj, recorded the incident and demanded money from the woman when she refused to convert, they stated.

Acting on the orders of the Pilibhit superintendent of police, a legal case has been filed against the accused officer and his wife Gulshan Ara also known as Jeva under the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act and other applicable laws, Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali police station Naresh Tyagi informed the media.

As per law enforcement officials, the complainant residing in the vicinity of the police station area claimed that she was attending a coaching center two years ago when a man harassed her and the accused officer intervened and rescued her. Subsequently, she developed a friendship with the officer.

Authorities mentioned that Officer Chand informed the victim that his name was Raj and proposed marriage to her.

The officer took the young woman to his residence in the police quarters, gave her drugs, sexually assaulted her, recorded a video, as per the woman’s complaint.

It is also alleged that the perpetrator coerced her into terminating the pregnancy on two occasions.

After some time, the victim discovered that the officer’s real name was Chand Khan and that he had been married twice before.

The accused also began pressuring the victim to change her faith. Upon her refusal, he resorted to blackmail by threatening to release the video. On two occasions, he brought a religious leader to convert her faith. His wife Gulshan Ara also assisted him in attempting to convert the woman’s belief system, as per the police.

The SHO stated that further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
