WordPress Introduces AI Tool for Writing Briefs, Helping Users Create More Precise Content
WordPress, the primary web content management system, introduced a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool for the self-hosted WordPress sites on Tuesday. Named Write Concise with AI, the tool was rolled out by WordPress’ parent company Automattic. The AI tool aids users in shortening prolix sentences and improving the readability, as well as boosting the confidence of the content. Currently in beta, the tool is included as part of the company’s Jetpack suite of features and can be accessed through a plugin.
In a blog post, WordPress unveiled the AI-driven writing tool. Write Concise with AI was internally referred to as ‘Breve’ which means brief in Latin. The company recognized the necessity for a tool that enables bloggers using the platform to write clearly and precisely. The tool was developed by Automattic’s Jetpack AI team.
Offered as a plugin for the self-hosted WordPress sites via Jetpack, the AI tool can be located on the editor page adjacent to the publish button once installed. It provides four functions. Initially, it evaluates the readability of content with a grade score. Users can view in a sidebar panel the grade at which students can find the text easily readable. The company recommends aiming for a score of 8-12 for optimal readability.
Secondly, it automatically highlights sentences that are excessively long or detailed. While users can review and enhance the sentences themselves, the AI also presents suggestions. Additionally, it proposes alternatives for complex words to simplify the text. The company asserts that this will facilitate readers’ comprehension of the text.
Lastly, the AI assesses the certainty of a written text. It identifies words that convey uncertainty such as ‘possibly’, ‘might’, or ‘maybe’ and suggests replacing them with more assertive options. Users can also replace multiple such words with a single click.
Presently, the tool is accessible on Jetpack in beta. WordPress stated that while the tool remains in beta, it will be provided to all users at no cost. Nonetheless, once it is publicly launched, it may transition into a premium offering. The company did not specify the AI model powering the tool.
