When Kay Kay Menon Experienced the Presence of Rabindranath Tagore During a Shoot in Shantiniketan
Performer Kay Kay Menon, who is fully prepared for the launch of his upcoming series Shekhar Home, has shared how the settings motivate artists, discussing filming for the show in Shantiniketan, West Bengal. Shekhar Home is a investigator drama set in the early 1990s in the imaginary West Bengal town of Lonpur.
Talking about the setting, Kay Kay stated, “Every location has its own allure and its own atmosphere. So, Shantiniketan was such, that you could sense the existence of Rabindranath Tagore there. I always follow the flow of things. I perceive that a place has a flow and Shantiniketan has a Tagore flow.”
Revealing how an actor performs regardless of their environment, the 57-year-old performer shared, “I recall, while filming for Shekhar Home in West Bengal, the temperature was approximately 45 degrees Celsius — blazing heat. Nevertheless, when you are deeply engaged and relish what you are doing, these things are disregarded.”
“It is like a batsman batting at a hundred, despite being fatigued and drained, he is enjoying it. So, for me, working in Shekhar Home was pleasurable and that was the most important. If it had not been pleasurable, I would have felt the heat very severely. It always occurs in an actor’s life and inevitably you’re depicting winters when it’s entirely summer and vice versa. So, these are the occupational risks of being an actor,” concluded Kay Kay.
The series follows the unique partnership of the brilliant but unconventional Shekhar Home, portrayed by Kay Kay, and his improbable partner, Jayvrat Sahni, portrayed by Ranvir Shorey. Together, they navigate a realm of perplexing enigmas ranging from homicide and blackmail to the inexplicable. Shekhar Home will debut on JioCinema Premium on August 14.
Regarding his professional commitments, Kay Kay was last observed in the web series The Railway Men: The Untold Story of Bhopal 1984, featuring R Madhavan, Divyenndu and Babil Khan in the lead roles, and Sunny Hinduja and Juhi Chawla in crucial roles.
