India cricketer Shardul Thakur has disclosed many details about India’s triumphant tour to Australia in 2020-21, stating that the team had not received satisfactory amenities from Cricket Australia. Describing the treatment towards them as “dreadful”, Thakur mentioned that then-India skipper Ajinkya Rahane and coach Ravi Shastri were consistently engaged in disputes with Cricket Australia, as the team did not receive appropriate facilities. Thakur unveiled that numerous adverse remarks were made about India, while going as far as branding then-Australia Test captain Tim Paine a deceiver.
During a public appearance, Shardul Thakur unveiled his genuine sentiments about the tour when questioned about what India’s notable triumph at The Gabba in Brisbane signified to him. India had clinched the four-match Test series 2-1.
“The manner in which they treated us was exceptionally unpleasant,” expressed Thakur. “For four or five days, there would be no housekeeping provision in the hotel. If you wished to switch the bedsheets, you would have to ascend five floors when you’re exhausted,” he persisted.
Thakur disclosed that the Governor of Queensland had conveyed that Australia were dissatisfied with hosting India. Thakur then proceeded to dismiss an interview given by Tim Paine.
“I overheard an interview from Tim Paine. That individual was outrightly deceiving, he was merely safeguarding himself by fabricating details in the media,” stated Thakur. “But I am aware of the reality – Virat (Kohli) had departed – and Ajinkya Rahane and Ravi Shastri were consistently clashing with Cricket Australia to provide us with what we desired,” he appended.

Thakur conveyed that the reaction of the Indian players following the triumph was distinct from the usual. India had secured the tour despite Virat Kohli missing the final three Tests and multiple injury worries. In the ultimate Test in Brisbane, India had pursued a colossal objective of 329.
“For the initial time ever, we did not even glance at the Australians following the victory. We wanted to communicate to them ‘Go and settle back in your dressing rooms’,” Thakur remarked.
