Bollywood multi-talent Karan Johar, who recently delivered the blockbuster movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, is observing the 18th anniversary of his most cherished film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna on Sunday.

The filmmaker-producer-businessman took to his Instagram and posted a video showcasing the behind-the-scenes moments from the production of the film. The video instantly transports the viewers back to the mid-2000s with the era-specific style.

The members of the cast such as Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, along with Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and Arjun Rampal can be spotted in the video.

KJo mentioned in the video that creating Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was only achievable because every member of the cast was a friend and family.

He also wrote a lengthy message in the caption: “KANK was the path that I need not have chosen but it was the finest decision I made to embark on it…so far! This movie not only provided me with the best of moments with my absolutely extraordinary cast that honestly, were more like my family – but it also provided me with the bravery to narrate stories that I put my belief in about relationships that were messy but beautiful…just like life? Here’s to 18 years of #KabhiAlvidaNaaKehna.”

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was a labor of love for KJo, and his debut film as a director after his father Yash Johar’s passing.

Upon its release, the film flopped at the box office as the Indian audience couldn’t relate to its themes of infidelity and fractured marriages. The film was considered ahead of its time and showcased exceptional performances from its cast. The film is also remembered for its timeless music. The tracks from the film remain popular on Instagram even 18 years after the album’s launch.
