Midnight Protest by Women in Bengal against Doctor’s Rape and Murder
Kolkata has experienced massive demonstrations over the assault and homicide of a physician

Females in Kolkata and other regions of Bengal will march through the streets late tomorrow night as part of an extensive protest against the assault and homicide of a 31-year-old physician at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in the city. The protest, set to commence at 11.55 pm tomorrow, has been labeled as, “For women’s autonomy at the midnight of autonomy”.
Advertisements revealing the protest locations are circulating on social media, with additional locations being included as more individuals from the state outskirts participate. Males have also committed to joining the protest in significant numbers to exhibit their unity with the cause. Various notable personalities, such as performer Swastika Mukherjee, actress Churni Ganguly, and director Pratim D Gupta, have encouraged individuals to join the late-night assembly at the most convenient meeting point.
Kolkata has been rattled by the assault and homicide of a 31-year-old physician at the publicly operated hospital while she was on night duty. The physician was discovered deceased on Friday morning in a conference hall at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in the northern sector of the city. She had wounds on her eyes, face, mouth, neck, limbs, and intimate regions.

Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer who frequently visited the hospital, has been detained in connection with the situation.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has given the city police until Sunday to finalize the inquiry, or else the state administration would suggest a CBI investigation if the victim’s family requests. She has stated that the state government has no secrets to conceal.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal has mentioned that they are conversing with all individuals in the vicinity of the location at the time of the occurrence. “We are positive that if there are other perpetrators, they will be apprehended within the next four to five days,” he expressed.
