New Delhi:

An airhostess was reportedly pulled and sexually harassed by an e-bike taxi operator on her way home from east Delhi, authorities stated on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on the Simon Bolivar Marg near Buddha Jayanti Park on Wednesday night, as the woman was heading home on the hired taxi bike from east Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla mentioned that based on the woman’s accusation, authorities apprehended Jaiveer, 35, from Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya.

Mahla noted that he was charged under sections 74/76/109(1)/115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Chanakyapuri Police Station.

As per police insiders, the suspect was believed to be linked to prior criminal incidents.

The woman mentioned in her report to the authorities that she had engaged an e-bike to head towards Dwarka later on Wednesday night.

While en route, the driver requested her to hold his mobile phone and guide him based on the GPS map. The woman informed authorities that he also asked her to buy him an ice-cream, a source revealed.

After traveling a few kilometers, the driver retrieved his mobile phone from the woman and made a wrong turn. When she inquired about it, he claimed it was a shortcut.

Subsequently, the man halted the bike in a remote area and pulled the woman towards a cluster of trees and attacked her when she attempted to raise an alarm, the source mentioned.

A passing couple noticed the woman in distress and stopped their vehicle. The driver fled upon seeing them approaching, leaving his two helmets behind, the source added.

The couple dropped the woman near a metro station.
