Rohit Sharma Decides to Skip Net Practice Before New Zealand Match, Report Reveals Concerning Update
Rohit Sharma’s Net Practice Ahead of New Zealand Match Raises Concerns
Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma’s recent absence from the batting nets during a practice session has raised concerns about his fitness ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 match against New Zealand. According to a report by Times of India, Rohit Sharma was the only frontline batter who did not participate in the nets session. This comes after the team’s victory over Pakistan, where Rohit Sharma suffered a hamstring injury.
Limited Physical Activity for Rohit Sharma
During the practice session at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Academy, all players engaged in warm-up activities such as playing football and running laps. However, Rohit Sharma opted for limited physical activity, jogging gently under the supervision of the Strength & Conditioning coach. He did not face any throwdowns and instead focused on shadow batting while having discussions with head coach Gautam Gambhir and the coaching staff.
Virat Kohli’s Intensive Batting Session
In contrast, Virat Kohli spent a significant amount of time facing spinners and net bowlers during the training session. Bowling coach Morne Morkel, who had to briefly leave the camp due to a personal emergency, re-joined the team and oversaw the bowlers’ preparations for the upcoming match against New Zealand. Pace bowlers like Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana, and Arshdeep Singh showcased their skills under Morkel’s guidance, indicating their readiness for the challenge ahead.
Concerns and Preparations for the New Zealand Clash
With Rohit Sharma’s limited participation in the nets and Virat Kohli’s intensive batting session, the team is focused on preparing for the crucial match against New Zealand. Despite the setbacks, the coaching staff and players are determined to put their best foot forward and overcome any obstacles that come their way.
The team’s stand out batter, Shubman Gill, was the only player absent from the practice session, raising further questions about the team’s readiness for the upcoming match. As the players gear up for the challenge, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma’s recovery and the team’s performance against New Zealand.
