Supreme Court Judge Criticizes Illegal Hoardings in Thane, Prompting Police to Take Action and File FIR

Thane Police Take Action Against Illegal Hoardings in Mira Bhayandar

In a swift response to Supreme Court Judge Justice Abhay Oka’s strong stance against illegal hoardings in Mira Bhayandar, on the outskirts of Mumbai, the police have taken action against a man responsible for putting up unauthorized banners.

The Case Against Rajaram Ninave

The case was registered on Saturday based on a complaint by the anti-hawker squad of the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation against one Rajaram Ninave. According to officials, the unauthorized banners were connected to the inauguration of a magistrate court in Mira Bhayandar township in Maharashtra’s Thane district.

Justice Oka’s Displeasure Over Illegal Hoardings

Justice Oka expressed his displeasure over the prevalence of illegal hoardings during the inauguration event. He highlighted that the Bombay High Court had previously ruled that prior authorization was mandatory for displaying such banners. Despite initially being pleased to see the banners welcoming guests, Justice Oka later realized that they were illegal due to the lack of required permission numbers.

Legal Action Against Ninave

Following Justice Oka’s remarks, the Kashigaon police took prompt action and booked Ninave for putting up the illegal hoardings related to the court building inauguration. Charges have been filed against him under the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act.

Immediate Removal of Illegal Banners

Justice Oka emphasized the need for immediate action by the local civic body to remove such unauthorized banners. He reiterated the importance of adhering to the laws and regulations set by the courts to prevent the proliferation of illegal hoardings in public spaces.

Overall, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting the law and obtaining proper authorization before displaying banners or hoardings in public areas. The swift response by the Thane police in taking legal action against the offender demonstrates a commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining the aesthetics of public spaces.
