Streaming giant High Video recently unveiled its 2024 lineup, featuring 69 titles, including brand-new shows such as Varun Dhawan’s “Castle: Honey Bunny,” Ananya Panday’s “Name Me Bae,” and Bhumi Pednekar’s “Daldal.” Among these exciting releases is Vijay Varma’s “Matka King.” The show’s poster was just released, featuring Vijay Varma with an intense gaze into the camera.
Varma plays the role of an ambitious fantasy trader. “Ready to place our bet. Matka King will be on Prime soon, but filming is now,” reads the caption on the official poster.

The official synopsis describes “Matka King” as a “fictional tale set in 1960s Mumbai, where an ambitious cotton trader who craves legitimacy and respect starts a new gambling game dubbed Matka. His game takes the city by storm, democratizing a domain previously reserved for the wealthy elite,” according to ANI.
In addition to Vijay Varma, the show features Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav in key roles.
Currently in production, the show is backed by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Nagraj Manjule along with Gargi Kulkarni, Ashish Aryan, and Ashwini Sidwani under the banner of Roy Kapur Films.
Directed by Nagraj Manjule and written by Abhay Koranne with Nagraj Manjule, “Matka King” is set to be a must-watch.
Nagraj Manjule, known for his notable film credits including “Sairat,” “Fandry,” and “Jhund” featuring Amitabh Bachchan, directs the series.
