Jeff Bezos Debunks $600 Million Wedding Rumors: “Don’t Believe Everything You Read”

In a recent twist of events, billionaire Jeff Bezos has taken to social media to dispel swirling rumors about a lavish $600 million wedding to his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez. The speculation, which originated from a report by the Daily Mail, suggested that the extravagant nuptials were set to take place on December 28 at Kevin Costner’s Dunbar Ranch and the upscale sushi restaurant Matsuhisa in Aspen.

The initial claims were quickly picked up by numerous media outlets, including a notable comment from fellow billionaire Bill Ackman, who referred to the inflated wedding budget as “not credible.” Ackman emphasized the absurdity of such a staggering figure by stating, “Unless you are buying each of your guests a house, you can’t spend this much money.”

Responding directly to Ackman’s skepticism, Bezos took to X to challenge both the financial claims and the very existence of the alleged wedding, stating, “Furthermore, this whole thing is completely false – none of this is happening.” He then included a timely reminder about the proliferation of misinformation, quoting a familiar adage: “Now lies can get ALL the way around the world before the truth can get its pants on.”

Bezos, who is estimated to be worth around $238.5 billion, commented on the journalistic integrity of those who spread the rumors, expressing curiosity about whether those who reported on the story will offer corrections once the wedding fails to materialize.

The couple, who have been engaged since May 2023, have been in a relationship for nearly five years. Both Bezos and Sanchez have previous marriages, with Bezos famously divorced from Mackenzie Scott after two decades.

As of now, Bezos ranks as the second richest person in the world, following Elon Musk, according to Forbes. He holds ownership of significant enterprises, including The Washington Post and aerospace firm Blue Origin.

The public is left to wonder whether there are any wedding plans on the horizon, as inquiries have gone unanswered regarding a potential ceremony after Christmas.
