Lay’s Classic Potato Chips Recalled in Oregon and Washington Over Undeclared Milk Allergen
Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall of its popular Lay’s Classic Potato Chips due to an undeclared milk allergen, posing a potentially life-threatening risk for individuals with milk allergies or severe sensitivities. The recall affects consumers in Washington and Oregon, as confirmed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The issue concerns 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips with a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of February 11, 2025, and manufacturing codes 6462307xx or 6463307xx. While the chips typically contain just three ingredients — potatoes, vegetable oil, and salt — the presence of milk was not listed on the label.
The FDA warns that individuals with milk allergies could face serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the recalled product. However, no allergic reactions or injuries have been reported so far.
Frito-Lay emphasized that no other chip flavors or products are affected by this recall. Consumers who purchased the affected bags are urged to dispose of them immediately and contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations for further assistance.
