Arvind Kejriwal Accuses Election Commission of Failing to Upload Voters’ Data
Arvind Kejriwal Alleges Election Commission Refused to Upload Data
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has raised concerns about the transparency of the Delhi assembly election process. He alleged that the Election Commission refused to upload data on the number of votes polled in each assembly constituency in Delhi despite several requests. Votes in the Delhi assembly election held on Wednesday will be counted tomorrow.
Kejriwal took to social media to express his disappointment, stating, “EC has refused to upload Form 17C and number of votes polled per booth in each assembly despite several requests. Aam Aadmi Party has made a website transparentelections.in where we have uploaded all the Form 17C of every assembly.” Form 17C contains crucial information about the votes polled in each booth.
Transparency Concerns
Kejriwal emphasized the importance of transparency in the electoral process and criticized the Election Commission for not providing the necessary data. He mentioned that the AAP would present the data of every assembly and every booth in a tabulated format on their website to ensure that voters have access to this information.
The former Delhi chief minister highlighted the significance of such data being made available by the Election Commission for the sake of transparency. However, with the Commission’s refusal to do so, the AAP has taken the initiative to provide the information to the public through their website.
AAP’s Confidence and Allegations
Despite the challenges and concerns raised by Kejriwal, AAP leader Gopal Rai expressed confidence in the party’s performance. He stated that based on estimates given by AAP candidates from their ground reports, the party is confident of winning 50 seats in the election. This projection is lower than the near-complete sweep the AAP achieved in the previous Delhi election.
On the other hand, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP is attempting to poach AAP candidates by offering them Rs 15 crore each. The BJP denied these allegations, leading to further investigations into the matter by the Anti-Corruption Branch following a directive from Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena’s Principal Secretary.
Exit Poll Predictions
Exit polls have generated mixed predictions for the outcome of the Delhi assembly election. While some polls suggest a favorable outcome for the BJP, others indicate a potential victory for AAP. The voter turnout on election day was recorded at 60.42%.
One exit poll forecasted that the BJP could win 51-60 seats, while two other polls predicted an AAP victory. The varying predictions reflect the uncertainty surrounding the election results, emphasizing the need to wait for the official counting to determine the final outcome.
In conclusion, the Delhi assembly election has been marked by allegations, transparency concerns, and varying exit poll predictions. As the anticipation builds for the election results, all eyes are on the outcome that will shape the political landscape of the national capital.
