BJP Holds Delhi Government Accountable for 3 Deaths During Flooding

Delhi Coaching Centre Flooding: An underground pipe had burst, resulting in the inundation in the lower level.

New Delhi:

Three UPSC hopefuls perished after they were confined in the lower level of a well-known coaching center in Central Delhi last last evening, sparking extensive demonstrations.

Hundreds of scholars and residents in the vicinity congregated outside the Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar this morning demanding action against the coaching center and authorities for neglect that led to the deaths of three students.

Authorities mentioned an underground pipe had burst, resulting in the inundation in the lower level.

The occurrence triggered a severe censure on the governing AAP from the BJP, alleging that the local MLA had disregarded repeated pleas by residents to have the pipes cleaned.

“There should be an investigation into the alleged malpractice by Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and their administration. There should be an inquiry as to why the drainage was not cleansed by the Delhi Municipal Corporation,” stated Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj criticized the AAP administration and commented that Kejriwal’s administration did not heed the residents.

“These children came here to shape their future. However, the administration of Arvind Kejriwal and MLA Durgesh Pathak dismissed all requests from the local residents. People had been urging Durgesh Pathak for the past week to have the drainage systems cleaned. Arvind Kejriwal and Durgesh Pathak are accountable for the deaths,” she remarked.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonwalla also denounced the Kejriwal-led administration, labeling the event a “homicide” executed by AAP.

In response to the BJP’s accusations, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak mentioned that the party’s council members were in control of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for 15 years but did not have drains constructed. “This is not the time for politics. The priority now is on rescuing the students,” the MLA affirmed.

Footage from Rajendra Nagar displayed the lower level of Rau’s IAS Study Circle completely flooded.

Fire department officials disclosed they were notified about students being stuck in the lower level at 7.19 pm last evening and five fire trucks were dispatched to aid in rescue operations. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force also supported in the rescue mission.

The remains of two female students were retrieved hours after the rescue mission commenced. The remains of the third student, a male, were recovered later in the night.

The incident comes days after a UPSC aspirant was electrocuted while attempting to traverse a waterlogged street in Patel Nagar, which is also in West Delhi.
