Delhi emerges victorious as Parvesh Verma shares video of Arvind Kejriwal challenging PM Modi

New Delhi:

After the recent victory of the BJP in the Delhi Assembly election, Parvesh Verma, the newly elected BJP MLA, took a poetic jibe at AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP’s landslide win marked the end of AAP’s 10-year rule in the capital city.

Verma’s Shayari Attack

Sharing a video on social media, Parvesh Verma highlighted a pre-election speech by Arvind Kejriwal where he challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kejriwal’s bold statement, “I want to challenge Modi ji, you cannot defeat AAP in Delhi in this birth. You would have to be reborn,” was played in the video. The video then transitioned to a speech by Prime Minister Modi, who targeted AAP with his “AAPda” jab, emphasizing the need for change in Delhi. The final seat tally after the election showed BJP securing 48 seats, while AAP managed to win 22.

Accompanying the video, Verma captioned it with a poignant shayari: “Ik shaksh jo yahan takht-nasheen tha, usko apne khuda hone pe bohut yakeen tha,” loosely translating to “the one who sat on the throne earlier believed he was God.” This shayari, inspired by the works of Habib Jalib, serves as a reminder that power is fleeting and should not lead to arrogance.

Habib Jalib’s Legacy

Habib Jalib, a renowned poet born in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur in 1928, used his poetry to criticize autocratic regimes and oppressive governments. His writings, which opposed martial law and state oppression, resonated with the masses and challenged those in power. Jalib’s work also spoke out against figures like Ayub Khan during his authoritarian rule in Pakistan. Despite facing backlash, Jalib remained steadfast in his commitment to social justice through his poetry until his death in 1993.

Verma’s Political Journey

Parvesh Verma, a former two-time Lok Sabha MP from West Delhi, achieved a significant victory by defeating Arvind Kejriwal in the recent Delhi election. This victory was particularly notable as Kejriwal had won the New Delhi seat thrice consecutively. With this win, Verma has emerged as a strong contender for the Chief Minister’s post in Delhi. However, the BJP has not yet announced its choice for Chief Minister. Party leaders, including JP Nadda and Amit Shah, are in discussions regarding government formation and the upcoming swearing-in ceremony. Sources suggest that the oath ceremony may take place after the Prime Minister’s return from the US.
