The mission stated it was closely monitoring the well-being of the resident Indian community in the aftermath of the shooting incident on July 15.
Ambassador Amit Narang conversed today with Tausif Abbas, son of Basha Jan Ali Hussain, who regrettably lost his life in the event, the Indian consulate stated in a post on X.
The diplomat assured complete support of the consulate for the repatriation of Basha Jan Ali Hussain’s body back to India and all other assistance that the family may require.
Consulate officials have visited the three Indian nationals who have sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at a hospital. Ambassador Narang also communicated with their families and assured complete support.
He expressed his sincere gratitude for the swift action taken by the Omani security agencies in handling the crisis and safeguarding the lives of innocent civilians “The Consulate extends its condolences to the families of those who have sadly lost their lives in this event and wishes a prompt recovery to all those who have been injured,” the mission stated in a post on X.
The three assailants were also eliminated by Omani security forces during the event in the al-Wadi al-Kabir area on Monday night, according to a statement.
The Pakistani government mentioned four of its nationals were among those deceased in a “terrorist attack” on the Imam Ali Mosque.
The Islamic State (ISIS) extremist group claimed accountability for the attack.
ISIS has frequently targeted Shia rituals, processions and worshippers in countries like Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. But it has never before admitted to an attack in Oman, where the Shia are a minority.
