Internet Reacts to Brazilian Influencer’s Unconventional Anti-Aging Face Mask Made of Poop

Medical specialists were swift to condemn the peculiar beauty treatment

Brazilian influencer Debora Peixoto has incited outrage and incredulity online after disclosing that she uses her excrement as a facial mask. Ms. Peixoto, 31, even unveiled a video of her unconventional skincare regimen, which entails applying her excrement to her face.

“It’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever done,” Ms. Peixoto told Jam Press. The influencer, who previously garnered attention for utilizing menstrual blood as a skin treatment, said she opted to experiment with the excrement mask after reading online that it could “prevent aging.”

In the Instagram video, Ms. Peixoto, who boasts over 658,000 followers, is observed opening a container of her excrement and spreading it across her face as if it were a typical mud mask. To counteract the odor, she uses a clothespin to close her nostrils and lets the mask sit for several minutes before rinsing it off. The video concludes with Peixoto displaying her radiant skin.

“It’s been effective for me, and my skin has ceased flaking!” Peixoto exclaimed, further fueling the controversy surrounding her skincare regimen. Ms. Peixoto, who also made headlines last year for marrying her significantly older cousin, has once again provoked public opinion.

Medical specialists were swift to condemn the peculiar beauty treatment, cautioning that the health hazards far surpass any alleged advantages.

“Of all the skincare ‘fads,’ this is one of the most bizarre I’ve ever encountered,” said Dr. Sophie Momen, a consultant dermatologist at the Cadogan Clinic in London. “There is no scientific proof that using excrement as a facial mask benefits your skin.”

Dr. Momen added that this unconventional approach could expose users to bacterial and viral infections, food poisoning, and skin irritation.

Plastic surgeon Mr. Tunc Tiryaki echoed these concerns, pointing out that excrement contains harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites such as E. coli, Salmonella, and helminths, which can induce severe infections and diseases. He cautioned that applying excrement to the face could introduce these pathogens through small cuts, abrasions, or mucous membranes, potentially leading to serious skin infections or systemic illnesses. He strongly urged individuals to utilize modern skincare products instead.

Social media users also expressed their repulsion at Peixoto’s extreme beauty regimen. “People are becoming overly radical on the internet. This is concerning,” one critic remarked, while another joked, “This is why extraterrestrials don’t communicate with us.”
