Democratic candidate Kamala Harris is ahead of Republican nominee Donald Trump by 42% to 37% in the competition for the U.S. presidential election on November 5, as per an Ipsos poll released on Thursday.
The survey revealed Harris had extended her advantage since a July 22-23 Reuters/Ipsos poll, where she was leading 37% to 34% over Trump.
The nationwide survey of 2,045 U.S. citizens, conducted from August 2-7, showed that only 4% of respondents supported independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr., a decrease from 10% in July.
The August poll by Ipsos was conducted independently of Reuters. The online survey had an approximate margin of error of 3 percentage points.
Harris joined the race on July 21 after President Joe Biden, 81, withdrew his candidacy and endorsed Harris following a poor performance in the debate on June 27 against Trump.
