Man in Odisha Kills Wife in a Fit of Rage and Surrenders at Police Station

Law enforcement officials have apprehended the suspect, according to authorities

Jajpur:

An individual aged 52 reportedly murdered his spouse due to a family disagreement in Jajpur district of Odisha, and subsequently turned himself in at a law enforcement facility, an official stated on Thursday.

The perpetrator has been identified as Abhimanyu Sahoo from Narayanpur village, while the victim has been identified as Sabita Sahoo (47).

According to accounts, Abhimanyu, who works as an electrician, was wedded to Sabita for roughly 25 years, and they had a turbulent relationship for the past few years due to their inability to conceive.

The pair would frequently argue about their inability to have children, attributing blame to each other.

Upon returning home from work on Wednesday afternoon, Sabita initiated a dispute with Abhimanyu over a minor household matter. The argument quickly escalated into a violent altercation between the couple.

In a burst of anger, Abhimanyu stabbed his wife, causing her to bleed profusely. Following the crime, Abhimanyu fled from the village and eventually turned himself in to the local authorities on Wednesday night.

Abhimanyu’s mother, who was not at home during the incident, discovered her daughter-in-law lying in a pool of blood on the house floor upon her return. She then raised an alarm, prompting neighbors to rush Sabita to the Mangalpur Community Health Centre (CHC), where medical professionals pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Jajpur SDPO Satyabrata Lenka announced that Abhimanyu has been taken into custody, and preparations are underway for a postmortem examination on Sabita.
