Manu Bhaker speaks out on viral video with Neeraj Chopra, reveals details from events

Manu Bhaker created history at the Paris Olympics 2024 by becoming the first Indian post-independence to secure two medals in one edition of the competition. Overall, India ended with six medals, with Manu clinching two. She earned a bronze in the women’s individual 10m air pistol event and also in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh. She was also selected as India’s flag-bearer at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony.

Prior to the closing ceremony, Manu and her mother met star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who claimed a silver medal. The videos of their interactions went viral, sparking rumors about their personal lives. Manu has now addressed the speculation in the video.

“There is a video that is circulating widely, where your mother can be seen conversing with Neeraj Chopra. Numerous rumors are circulating. What is your opinion on this?” the anchor inquired of Manu Bhaker. 

“I don’t have much information about it. I was not present when this occurred. But since 2018, we have been meeting at various events. We do not interact much otherwise. We exchange a few words during events. However, the rumors that are circulating are baseless,” she stated on News18.

The way the three of them were engaging with each other sparked wild speculation on social media, with many suggesting that marriage could be in the cards for Neeraj and Manu. Nevertheless, the father of the pistol shooter dismissed the speculation, stating that his daughter is not even of marriageable age.

“Manu is still very young. She is not even old enough for marriage. It’s not something she is thinking about at the moment,” Manu’s father Ram Kishan told Dainik Bhaskar, putting an end to any rumors or speculation about her future plans.

In the videos that surfaced on social media, Manu’s mother also appeared to share a strong bond with Neeraj. Ram Kishan disclosed that Manu’s mother views Neeraj as her own son, thus explaining the connection between the two.

“Manu’s mother considers Neeraj like her son,” he remarked, underscoring the bond and affection between them, while also dispelling any romantic notions between the athletic star and Manu.

Neeraj’s uncle also addressed the rumors surrounding the Paris silver medalist’s marriage. He remarked, “Just as Neeraj brought home the medal, the entire country became aware of it. Similarly, when he decides to marry, everyone will know.”
