Mohammed Siraj engaged in a verbal altercation with Sri Lanka’s Kusal Medis during the India vs Sri Lanka third ODI at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday. Subsequently, the India fast bowler secured a wicket, and the response of his colleague Virat Kohli could not go unnoticed. The incident occurred while Sri Lanka was batting. Siraj was reintroduced into the attack to deliver the 39th over. He delivered three consecutive dot balls to Mendis, with the final one resulting in a heated argument with the batsman. On the very next delivery, Mendis scored a single, and Siraj then dismissed Sadeera Samarawickrama, who was playing his first ball in the match.

The umpire was uncertain about an appeal for LBW, but India opted for a review. The review showed that the ball first hit Samarawickrama’s boot instead of the bat. Ball tracking confirmed that it would have hit the leg stump. The decision was overturned to out, and Virat Kohli, along with other India teammates, celebrated animatedly. Kohli even gave a spirited farewell to the batsman.
