Mysterious Drones Over New Jersey: Military Base Denies Involvement
The mystery surrounding drones spotted over various locations in New Jersey continues to deepen, with a local military research center denying any connection to the activity.
Lt. Col. Craig Bonham II, commander of the Picatinny Arsenal, stated that the unidentified drones are not associated with their operations. “While the source and cause of these aircraft operating in our area remain unknown, we can confirm that they are not the result of any Picatinny Arsenal-related activities,” he said in a statement to the Morristown Daily Record.
According to the report, Picatinny Arsenal has confirmed 11 drone sightings since November 13. Seven additional reports were either unverified or identified as airplanes.
The rise in drone sightings across New Jersey has sparked concerns, with reports of large drones flying over areas like President-elect Trump’s Bedminster golf course and military research sites. These sightings have been frequent, with drones often appearing at night and sometimes flying in groups.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) received its first reports of drone activity in Morris County on November 18, about two miles from Trump National Golf Club in Somerset County. On Sunday alone, dozens of reports were logged, as per New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the issue, confirming that the drones are not foreign and that President Biden has been briefed. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI are currently investigating the matter.
When asked if foreign entities could be responsible for controlling the drones, Jean-Pierre firmly responded, “Yeah,” ruling out the possibility.
State officials, including Gov. Murphy, emphasized that the situation is being treated seriously. However, Murphy reassured the public via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that “there is no known threat to the public” at this time.
The investigation into these mysterious drones remains ongoing, leaving residents and authorities searching for answers.
