Pakistan Army Suffers Significant Losses in Ceasefire Violations Along the Line of Control
Ceasefire Violation by Pakistani Troops
On Wednesday, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by firing on Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army responded with a strong retaliation, causing heavy casualties among the enemy forces. The extent of damage on the Pakistan side is not known immediately.
Rare Ceasefire Violation
This ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the Krishna Ghati sector comes after a long period of peace along the LoC, following the renewal of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan on February 25, 2021.
Recent Hostile Activities
The tension along the LoC has been escalating over the past week with multiple incidents of hostile activities. This was the first ceasefire violation this year and the fourth cross-border incident in just five days.
On Monday, a soldier was hit by a bullet while manning a forward post in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector in Rajouri district. Additionally, an Army patrol came under terrorist fire from a forest across the LoC in Rajouri’s Keri sector on February 8. Terrorists were trying to infiltrate into the Indian side.
There was also a landmine explosion on February 4 and 5, causing casualties to terrorists attempting to infiltrate into the Indian side from across the LoC in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district.
Army’s Response
On February 10, General Officer Commanding of the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, reviewed the “hostile activities” along the LoC in Rajouri district. He visited forward areas of the Rajouri sector for an operational update on the prevailing security situation and the hostile activities.
The corps commander commended all ranks for their vigil and operational focus, urging them to remain prepared for all contingencies.
Injuries and Casualties
During the recent ceasefire violation, a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Indian Army sustained minor injuries when he accidentally stepped on a landmine in the Tarkundi area along the LoC. The injured officer was evacuated to a military hospital for treatment.
Additionally, an undated video of a Pakistani army officer paying last respects to killed soldiers is circulating on social media, indicating heavy casualties on the enemy side.
Conclusion
The situation remains tense along the LoC as both sides continue to monitor the border and respond to any hostile activities. The Indian Army remains vigilant and prepared to defend the border against any threats or incursions.
