Pakistani Man Risks Life Entering Lion’s Cage for TikTok Stunt, Suffers Mauling

A TikTok Video Shoot Gone Wrong: Man Attacked by Lion

A recent TikTok video shoot took a dangerous turn when a Pakistani man, Muhammad Azeem, was attacked by a caged lion at a breeding farm in Punjab province. The incident occurred when Azeem entered the lion’s cage without permission from the farm owner in an attempt to film a viral video.

The Attack and Rescue

As Azeem approached the lion with his cellphone, the big cat pounced on him, causing severe injuries to his head, face, and arms. The farm owner heard Azeem’s cries for help and quickly intervened to rescue him. Azeem was immediately taken to a hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.

Legal Consequences

In response to the incident, legal action has been taken against the farm owner, including the cancellation of his breeding license. The Pakistani government has also acknowledged the need for stricter regulations regarding the possession and display of big cats.

Government Intervention and Regulation

Senior Pak minister Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of regulating the ownership of big cats, such as lions, cheetahs, tigers, pumas, and jaguars. The government has imposed a strict ban on displaying these animals on platforms like TikTok and has established minimum standards for their care. Owners are required to house these animals outside city limits, and failure to comply will result in legal action.

Recent Legislation

The cabinet of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz recently amended the Wildlife Act of 1974 to include big cats in Schedule II, providing a legal framework for their possession and care. This move aims to prevent incidents like the one involving Azeem and the lion, promoting responsible ownership and safeguarding both humans and animals.

Conclusion

The unfortunate incident at the breeding farm serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with interacting with wild animals, especially for the sake of social media content. It also highlights the importance of implementing and enforcing regulations to protect both animals and the public. By upholding these standards, future incidents can be prevented, ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved parties.
