Police in Jharkhand Report 3-Year-Old Student Raped by 30-Year-Old School Van Driver

A 30-year-old school van driver has been apprehended for purportedly assaulting a nursery student in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district, a senior police officer said on Sunday.
The occurrence transpired in the city’s Mango locality on Friday. A special police team took into custody the accused Jaishree Tiwary, a dweller of Daiguttu under the authority of the Mango police station, within three hours after an FIR was lodged by the victim’s mother on Saturday, the Superintendent of Police (City & Rural) Rishava Gard stated in a press conference here.
The SP mentioned that a medical examination of the three-and-a-half-year-old victim was conducted, and the accused driver was remanded to judicial custody on Sunday.
Upon returning home from school on Friday, the young victim complained of stomach ache and recounted how her school driver perpetrated the atrocious act.
Upon receiving the information yesterday, Senior Superintendent Kishore Kaushal established a special police team and instructed them to detain the wrongdoer as per the provisions of the Pocso Act, the SP mentioned.
A female police officer was dispatched to the victim’s residence to collect details of the incident prior to the arrest of the driver.
The school van has been confiscated, the SP mentioned, adding that the police have taken the occurrence seriously and guaranteed the victim’s family to file the chargesheet within a week.
