Police in Jharkhand report that a 30-year-old school van driver has raped a 3-year-old student

A 30-year-old school van operator has been apprehended for purportedly assaulting a nursery pupil in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district, a senior police official stated on Sunday.

The occurrence took place in the city’s Mango area on Friday. A specialized police unit detained the accused Jaishree Tiwary, a dweller of Daiguttu under the jurisdiction of the Mango police station, within three hours after an FIR was lodged by the victim’s mother on Saturday, the Superintendent of Police (City & Rural) Rishava Gard mentioned in a press conference here.

The SP mentioned that a medical examination of the three-and-a-half-year-old victim was conducted, and the accused operator was remanded to judicial custody on Sunday.

Upon returning home from school on Friday, the young victim complained of abdominal discomfort and recounted how her school operator committed the atrocious act.

Upon receiving the information yesterday, Senior Superintendent Kishore Kaushal established a specialized police unit and instructed them to detain the wrongdoer according to the stipulations of the Pocso Act, the SP mentioned.

A female police officer was dispatched to the victim’s residence to collect details of the incident before the operator was apprehended.

The school van has been confiscated, the SP remarked, adding that the police have taken the incident earnestly and assured the victim’s family to submit the chargesheet within a week.
