The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, arrived in New Delhi on Monday for a two-day state visit to India. During his visit, he is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 18.

Prime Minister Modi extended a rare gesture of hospitality by personally going to the airport to receive the Emir of Qatar upon his arrival in Delhi. In a post on social media, PM Modi expressed his excitement about the upcoming meeting, saying, “Went to the airport to welcome my brother, Amir of Qatar H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Wishing him a fruitful stay in India and looking forward to our meeting tomorrow.”

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the Emir of Qatar’s visit will further strengthen the multifaceted partnership between India and Qatar. This visit is expected to provide momentum to the growing ties between the two countries.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to call on the Emir of Qatar in the evening. On Tuesday morning, the Emir of Qatar will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan before his meeting with PM Modi at the Hyderabad House.

The talks between the Emir of Qatar and PM Modi will cover various aspects of bilateral relations, as mentioned by the MEA. An exchange of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, followed by a meeting with President Murmu.
