The Rise of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025
The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) emerge as one of the strongest contenders for the title. With their consistent and dominating performances, RCB has become a team to watch out for. On Monday, they delivered yet another thrilling performance, securing a 12-run victory over Mumbai Indians at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. This victory marked RCB’s third win in four games, solidifying their position at third place on the points table. After being put to bat first, RCB posted a formidable total of 221/5 and then successfully restricted the five-time champions to 209/9 in 20 overs.
Rajat Patidar’s Captain’s Knock
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar led from the front, playing a captain’s knock by scoring 64 runs off just 32 balls. His innings was a masterclass in aggressive batting, featuring five boundaries and four towering sixes. Patidar’s ability to improvise and execute a variety of shots kept the Mumbai Indians bowlers on their toes. One particular boundary off Hardik Pandya left star batter Virat Kohli, standing at the non-striker’s end, utterly impressed.
Patidar’s Show of Skill Against Hardik Pandya
In the 13th over, Patidar showcased his versatility by taking on Hardik Pandya. He began the over with a scoop shot for four, and later in the over, executed a brilliant upper cut that sailed over the wicketkeeper’s head for another boundary. The shot not only delighted the crowd but also drew a big smile from Kohli, who acknowledged Patidar’s talent and innovative shot-making.

Post-Match Reflections
Following the victory, Patidar praised the team’s bowling unit for their outstanding performance. “That was a really amazing match. The way the bowlers have shown courage, it was amazing. To be honest, this award goes to the bowling unit because it’s not easy to stop a batting unit on this ground, so the credit goes to them. The way the fast bowlers executed their plans was great. The way Krunal has bowled was amazing. In the last over, it was not easy, I think the way he has bowled and the courage he has shown is amazing,” said Patidar.
Patidar also emphasized the strategy behind their bowling attack. “At that time, it was clear that we have to take the game deep. So, the discussion was to take the game deep and use KP’s one over at the last. The wicket was good, and the ball was coming on nicely to the bat. After the Hardik Pandya over, I went all out. The wrist spinner is one of the main bowlers because they are wicket-taking, and the way he (Suyash Sharma) bowled was great,” he added.
Looking Ahead: Next Match Against Delhi Capitals
With momentum on their side, RCB is now gearing up to face Delhi Capitals in their next IPL 2025 encounter. The match is set to take place on Thursday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and RCB will be looking to continue their winning streak.
