Robert Downey Jr Reveals the Transformation of Iron Man as a Game-Changer
New Delhi:
Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr. says he is incredibly grateful for his iconic role as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Downey Jr. portrayed the character of Tony Stark from 2008’s Iron Man all the way to Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
Reflecting on his time as Iron Man, Downey Jr. shared in an interview with Screen Rant, “It’s been 17 years that I’ve been associated with this iconic superhero. It’s not just the character, but the message he represents that I am grateful for. Playing Tony Stark opened my eyes wider to the power technology has to impact the world for good, and that’s something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.”
Upcoming Role as Doctor Doom
Although his time as Iron Man has come to an end, Downey Jr. is set to make a return to the MCU in a new role as the villainous Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have expressed their excitement about working with Downey Jr. again, noting that he is fully immersed in the character of Doctor Doom.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Joe Russo said, “It’s a very intense process developing the character. He’s so immersed in it. He is so dialed in.” Anthony Russo added, “That’s the kind of artist he is. That’s the kind of actor he is.”
Challenging Audiences
The Russo brothers have teased that Avengers: Doomsday and its sequel Avengers: Secret Wars, set to release in 2026, will be “very radical” and will challenge audiences in new ways. The directing duo, known for their work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, are excited to push boundaries with these new films.
Joe Russo shared with The Hollywood Reporter, “We’re always looking for new faces because there’s always new stories to tell. I think these movies are going to be a surprise to people, we found a way into the story that’s very exciting to us but we think very radical and I think it’s going to challenge audiences.”
With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the Russo brothers aim to surpass their previous work and deliver a thrilling cinematic experience that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
