Samsung’s Vice Chairman Makes Visit to Noida Factory, Deems India as One of the Largest Global Markets with Enormous Potential

Samsung Electronics made an announcement about the arrival of a company representative to its Noida factory on Tuesday, commending its India-based research and development (R&D) teams. Notably, this establishment, situated in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, produces consumer electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and refrigerators. According to the corporation, this marks the second journey of the official to India in 2024, indicating the increasing significance of the South Korean technology conglomerate in the country.

Samsung Official Pays a Visit to Noida Factory

In a press release on the website, Samsung Electronics disclosed that JH Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and Leader of the Device eXperience (DX) Division visited the Samsung Noida factory, which is referred to as the “largest mobile factory in the world” by the company.

After the visit, the representative stated, “India is one of the largest and fastest-growing markets globally and presents a tremendous opportunity for Samsung. We were among the initial companies to invest in India, and I am pleased that the Noida factory has become one of our major facilities, producing not just for India, but for the global market.”

Samsung’s Noida facility was established in 1996 – becoming one of the pioneer global manufacturing facilities to be founded in the nation. It commenced smartphone production in 2017. The manufacturing capacity of the factory was enhanced to a maximum of 120 million smartphones per year in 2018, following a financial commitment of Rs. 4,916 crore by the South Korean corporation. It spans across 129,000 square meters. In January, TM Roh, President and Head of the Mobile Experience Business at Samsung Electronics, declared that this site will commence the production of laptop models to be marketed in India later this year.

Aside from the Noida factory, Samsung also operates another facility situated in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. During the visit, the Samsung Vice Chairman also lauded the research and development conducted by its India-based teams. “I am proud that numerous young, innovative engineers who are contributing significantly to the advancement of AI are employed at our R&D centers in India,” the representative mentioned.

Samsung affirms its commitment to the “Make in India” campaign. It possesses a total of three research and development centers in India, with two of them positioned in Noida and one in Bengaluru.
