Sarabjot Singh’s Mother’s Response to His Olympics Bronze: “I Am Busy, Call Later”

While the entire nation eagerly awaited Sarabjot Singh’s words after he and Manu Bhaker made history in the Paris Olympic Games, the 22-year-old marksman was instructed by his mother to contact her later as she was occupied. Sarabjot and Manu secured India’s second medal in Paris, becoming the pioneer shooters from India to clinch an Olympic medal in a team event. Post the triumph, Sarabjot conversed with IANS and disclosed the dialogue he had with his mother following his victory.

‘I conversed with my mother, and she mentioned, ‘I am occupied, speak with me later,’” stated Sarabjot to IANS.

The shooter from Ambala district of Haryana shared his sentiments post the event and expressed that he ‘is not content’ with his performance and is already contemplating the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

“My journey commenced when I was very young and this medal is quite commendable for me but I am still not content with my performance as I believe I encountered numerous technical difficulties this time, however, I will deliver an even superior performance in 2028,” added the bronze medalist.

Prior to the Mixed Team event, Sarabjot had secured the ninth position in the Qualification Round of the men’s 10m Air Pistol Individual event on Saturday, narrowly missing a spot in the final. He concluded with a score of 577 points after 60 shots, tied with Germany’s Robin Walter but was ousted as he hit the inner 10’s one time less than his German counterpart.

“I have garnered a plethora of lessons from my time here. I have grasped how to cope with pressure, enhance my breathing, and the kind of mindset essential at this stage. I will retreat to my room and ruminate on it all,” he concluded.

Sarabjot is referencing the bronze medal confrontation against South Korea in which he and Manu exhibited remarkable resilience and mental fortitude to thwart the late surge from the South Koreans and emerge victorious in the match 16-10.
