Simone Biles clinches her third gold medal at Paris Games with vault win

Simone Biles, a standout athlete on Team USA, secured the top prize in the women’s vault on Saturday, further enhancing her triumphant return to the pinnacle of gymnastics.

Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, who previously came in second to Biles in the all-around, claimed the silver medal.

Jade Carey, a fellow American, clinched a bronze after a significant mistake in Tokyo hindered her chances of winning a medal in the competition.

The United States has shown remarkable performance in gymnastics at the Paris Games. The U.S. women’s gymnastics team secured gold in the all-around team final on Tuesday, followed by gold for Biles and bronze for Suni Lee in the individual all-around competition on Thursday.

Andrade stepped onto the runway following Biles, fully aware that she would struggle to match Biles’ start values on the vaults. Nevertheless, Andrade executed her first vault flawlessly, earning a score of 15.100, and her second vault with a score of 14.833 — resulting in an average score of 14.966.

Carey sought redemption after a mishap during the vault competition in 2021. Competing last in the event on Saturday, she delivered two impressive vaults, averaging a score of 14.466.
