Sources: New Delhi Chief Minister Expected to be Chosen Tomorrow

The Delay in Naming Delhi BJP CM

After the resounding victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Delhi Assembly elections, all eyes are now on the party’s choice for the Chief Minister’s post. However, there has been a delay in the announcement, which sources attribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent foreign tours to France and the United States. Modi returned to Delhi on Saturday, and it is expected that the observer for the selection process will be named soon.

Grand Oath Ceremony Planned

The BJP, which is set to come to power in Delhi after 26 years, is planning to make the oath ceremony of its new Chief Minister a grand event. More than 200 MPs and former MPs of the party, along with Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of all NDA-ruled states, are expected to attend. Additionally, all state leaders and workers will be present at the event, which is likely to take place at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Front-Runners for the CM Post

Several names are being considered for the top post in Delhi. Among the front-runners are Parvesh Verma, the son of former BJP Chief Minister Saheb Singh Verma, and former Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay. Other potential candidates include MLA Vijender Gupta, Ashish Sood, and Pawan Sharma. There is also speculation that the BJP may choose a woman for the Chief Minister’s role, as four of the party’s new MLAs are women.

BJP’s Landslide Victory

The BJP’s victory in the Delhi Assembly elections was significant, as the party won 48 out of the 70 seats, a substantial increase from the 2020 elections. This victory effectively sidelined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which had won 62 seats in the previous election but was limited to just 22 seats this time.

Overall, the delay in naming the Delhi BJP Chief Minister has created anticipation and excitement among party members and supporters. As the party gears up for a new chapter in Delhi’s governance, all eyes are on the final decision regarding the Chief Minister’s post.
