WhatsApp Beta introduces AI-generated group icons and Meta AI widget
WhatsApp Introduces New Features for Beta Testers
WhatsApp has recently rolled out two new features on its beta versions for Android users. These features are aimed at enhancing the user experience and making it more convenient to access Meta AI chatbot and generate group icons using AI.
AI-Generated Group Icons
One of the new features being tested is the ability for beta testers to generate group icons using Meta AI. After updating to WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.6.10, users will see a new option that allows them to create AI images. By tapping on the pencil icon while viewing a group’s existing icon, users can select the option to create an AI image. This feature enables users to enter a prompt and let the chatbot generate multiple images for them to choose from, making it easier to set a new group icon.
According to reports, this feature is currently available on the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android, and users can start experimenting with AI-generated group icons.
Meta AI Widget for Easy Access
Another new addition is the Meta AI widget, which serves as a shortcut for users to quickly access the Meta AI chatbot without having to open the app. The widget can be added to the home screen, allowing users to easily interact with the chatbot by tapping on the widget.
While some users have reported seeing a larger widget with multiple buttons for different functions like asking Meta AI, using the camera, or voice prompts, others have only been able to add a slimmer version with limited options. This widget provides a convenient way for users to access the Meta AI chatbot and engage with it through text, photos, or voice commands.
Expected Rollout to All Users
These new features are currently being tested by beta users on WhatsApp for Android, but they are expected to be rolled out to all users on both Android and iOS in the near future. These enhancements are part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve user experience and provide more interactive features for its global user base.
