Delhi Government’s Efforts to Combat Pollution
In an effort to combat pollution in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently outlined plans for a clean, green, and healthy city. The Chief Minister chaired a meeting with Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and other senior officials from various departments and agencies to discuss steps to make the national capital cleaner and pollution-free.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Gupta directed the departments and agencies to accelerate pollution-control efforts. She emphasized the importance of creating a clean, green, and healthy capital with the support of Delhi’s residents.
Deployment of Sprinklers and Smog Guns
As part of the pollution-control measures, the Chief Minister announced that sprinklers and smog guns would be deployed throughout the year (except during the monsoon) to combat dust pollution. Additionally, she directed the increase in the number of enforcement teams at Delhi’s borders to monitor vehicle emissions.

Chief Minister Gupta highlighted the contribution of vehicles coming from outside Delhi to pollution levels. To address this issue, she instructed the departments to increase enforcement teams at border points and install digital display boards to raise awareness about pollution. Regular upkeep to control dust pollution was also emphasized, with road-owning agencies instructed to submit weekly reports on road repair and cleanliness.

To ensure coordinated efforts among departments, the Chief Minister directed officials to present an action plan within a week. She stressed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the people of Delhi from air pollution and emphasized the need for regular inspections and immediate responses to improve air quality.
