New Illinois Republican Chair Kathy Salvi Takes the Helm

Kathy Salvi has been elected as the new chair of the Illinois Republican Party following Don Tracy’s resignation last month due to internal power struggles within the party.

Salvi will assume her role on July 19.

On Friday, Tracy released a statement: “Congratulations to Kathy Salvi for stepping into this challenging yet crucial role to foster a brighter future for Illinois. Republicans in our state are united behind President Trump and recognize that the Biden/Pritzker agenda is detrimental to our families. This week in Milwaukee, we will demonstrate our unity of purpose – to reclaim greatness for both our state and nation with a message of hope and prosperity for the future.”

The Republican National Convention will take place in Milwaukee next week.

Tracy began his tenure as a volunteer in 2021.

Salvi, a lawyer and former assistant public defender, ran unsuccessfully against Sen. Tammy Duckworth in 2022.

She hails from the northwest suburbs.
