Victoria Spartz Steps Back from Committees to Focus on Government Spending Reforms Through DOGE

Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) has announced that she will not sit on any committees or actively participate in Republican caucus activities in the upcoming Congress. Instead, she plans to dedicate her efforts toward achieving massive government spending cuts, aligning herself with the new “Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency” (DOGE) initiative.

Spartz clarified her stance in a post on the social media platform X, where she expressed her frustrations with the current state of Republican leadership in Congress. “I will stay as a registered Republican but will not sit on committees or participate in the caucus until I see that Republican leadership in Congress is governing,” Spartz wrote.

She further stated, “I do not need to be involved in circuses. I would rather spend more of my time helping @DOGE and @RepThomasMassie to save our Republic, as was mandated by the American people.” Her reference to DOGE points to a newly formed advisory initiative spearheaded by President-elect Trump.

What is DOGE?

The “Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency” (DOGE) commission is part of President-elect Trump’s broader plan to reform government operations and implement major spending cuts. It will be co-led by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, Trump’s former GOP primary opponent. The group’s primary focus is identifying inefficiencies in government spending and advocating for actionable reforms.

Recognizing the importance of congressional support for such changes, Republican lawmakers have established counterpart groups on Capitol Hill. These caucuses are led by Rep. Aaron Bean (R-Fla.) and Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) in the House, with Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) leading efforts in the Senate.

Additionally, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) will oversee a related subcommittee within the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, also named “Delivering on Government Efficiency.”

Spartz’s Commitment to Reform

Victoria Spartz has been a consistent advocate against wasteful government spending. By aligning herself with DOGE, she joins Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who has also pledged to support Ramaswamy and Trump’s efficiency agenda. Spartz’s decision signals a deep frustration with current Republican leadership and a personal commitment to prioritize fiscal responsibility.

Spartz’s announcement reflects growing momentum within certain GOP circles to push for significant reforms and hold the government accountable for excessive expenditures.
