Penn State’s Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton to Return for 2025 Season, Boosting Team’s Rushing Power

In an exciting announcement for Penn State football fans, junior running backs Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton have confirmed they will return for the 2025 season. Both players had impressive seasons, each surpassing the 1,000-yard mark in rushing.

Allen and Singleton made their announcement this Monday, expressing their commitment to the Nittany Lions and their desire to achieve more as a team. Singleton stated, “We still have goals we want to reach as a team, and I want to be alongside my teammates as we reach those goals.” Additionally, Allen acknowledged, “It’s clear that we still have a lot more to accomplish,” reinforcing their collective motivation.

The pair has garnered significant attention from NFL analysts, with ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. ranking them as the fifth and sixth top running backs available in the upcoming NFL draft. However, their decision to stay with Penn State signals their dedication to further improving their skills and contributing to the team’s success.

During the 2024 season, Allen rushed for 1,108 yards, scored eight touchdowns, and averaged 5.0 yards per carry. Singleton closely followed, racking up 1,099 rushing yards, 12 touchdowns, and an impressive 6.4 yards per carry, ranking fourth in the Big Ten. Beyond their rushing prowess, Singleton also led Big Ten running backs with 375 receiving yards from 41 catches, showcasing his versatility on the field.

In a recent College Football Playoff semifinal, Singleton shined with three rushing touchdowns in a close 27-24 loss to Notre Dame. Meanwhile, Allen contributed significantly to the team’s quarterfinal victory over Boise State, rushing for 134 yards.

The return of Allen and Singleton comes alongside the news that Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is also returning for another season. With this trio, the Nittany Lions are well-positioned to boast one of the most dynamic and experienced backfields in college football.
