100-Day Countdown Begins for Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — The countdown to Taylor Swift’s performance in Indianapolis is now at 100 days. The pop sensation’s Eras Tour is anticipated to significantly boost tourism in the city.

“I’m an OG Swiftie,” said Jennifer Holcomb.

Holcomb co-hosts the podcast AP Taylor Swift, which delves deeply into Taylor Swift’s lyrics. As a former English teacher, this aligns perfectly with her interests.

“There must be more to her lyrics for them to be so powerful and resonate with so many people. Let’s try and figure that out,” said Holcomb.

Holcomb is thrilled to attend the Eras Tour in Indianapolis, marking her second time seeing the show.

“I’m psyched she’s coming to Indy and creating an opportunity for 32-year-old me to share this memory with my dad,” said Holcomb.

Holcomb acknowledges her luck in securing a ticket, as 87% of attendees for the three November nights are from out-of-state.

“Since she announced the tour was ending in December, my mom and I decided we had to get tickets,” said Rosa Matley.

Matley, who lives in Las Vegas, is hoping to attend the concert in Indianapolis. To fund her trip, she has been making and selling Taylor Swift friendship bracelets.

“I have an Etsy shop where we’re trying to raise money by selling bracelets that come in sets of 13,” said Matley.

“Tickets right now range from $2,500 to $20,000 per ticket,” said Patrick Tamm from the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association.

The excitement surrounding Taylor Swift’s concert makes it one of the largest tourism events of the year. Approximately 200,000 people are expected to visit the city.

“Taylor Swift is a significant economic boost. Economists estimate each concert generates a $50 million economic impact. We have three consecutive nights on a weekend,” said Tamm.

“Hotels across the city are nearly sold out for Taylor’s weekend, with rates tripling compared to 2023,” said Clare Clark with Visit Indy. “For November, we’re seeing a 207% increase in short-term rentals.”

The Eras Tour adds to an already busy year for tourism in Indianapolis. From the NBA All-Star Game to the solar eclipse and Olympic Swimming Trials, the city is on track for a record-breaking year.

Tourism typically brings a $5.8 million impact annually, but Visit Indy expects this year to surpass that.

“Thirty million visitors come to Indianapolis each year, and this number is expected to exceed that,” said Clark.
