Amidst Chaos: Taliban Fighters Enjoy Bumper Cars and Merry-Go-Rounds in Afghanistan

In the aftermath of the Taliban’s seizure of Afghanistan, surreal footage emerged depicting armed Taliban militants enjoying rides on bumper cars and merry-go-rounds.

As chaos enveloped Kabul’s airport on Monday, with throngs of people scrambling to flee the Taliban’s advance, videos circulated on social media revealing armed fighters partaking in amusement-park attractions.

One particularly striking video, widely shared on Twitter, captured militants navigating bumper cars while brandishing weapons.

Another clip, shared by Mediavenir, a French media platform, showcased Taliban members leisurely riding a merry-go-round.

Additional footage purportedly depicted fighters testing out the gym facilities at Afghanistan’s presidential palace.

The Taliban, known for their hardline Islamist ideology, previously ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001 until they were ousted by US-led forces in the wake of the September 11 attacks. The United States reportedly invested approximately $83 billion in training Afghanistan’s security forces to resist Taliban resurgence.

Following years of conflict, the Taliban swiftly reclaimed control of Kabul over the weekend, with the group’s leaders proclaiming an end to the war in the nation.

On Sunday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled into exile, effectively ceding power to the Taliban.

Amidst the turmoil, crowds besieged Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport on Monday, desperate to escape the country. Heart-wrenching footage depicted Afghans clamoring onto departing aircraft, with some tragically falling from the planes mid-flight.
