Dunki film reservations have amassed an impressive Rs 7 crore thus far, with expectations of further financial gains

Shah Rukh Khan’s cinematic endeavor, Dunki, has not only seized a remarkable Rs 7 crore and distributed 255,796 tickets, but its popularity extends beyond Indian borders, with notable success in overseas markets.

Scheduled for release on December 21, 2023, Dunki marks SRK’s third cinematic venture this year, and anticipation is mounting as he collaborates for the first time with Rajkumar Hirani, the acclaimed director of 3 Idiots.

Dunki is poised for a resounding debut at the box office, having already amassed over Rs 7 crore through bookings.

A formidable challenge awaits Dunki in the form of Salaar, starring Prabhas, set to release just a day after Dunki. Both films are highly anticipated and are likely to face some hurdles due to their simultaneous release. Salaar, with a budget four times that of Dunki, finds itself under heightened scrutiny, especially given SRK’s stellar performance this year.

Dunki’s Day 1 Bookings

Recent reports indicate that SRK’s Dunki has secured the sale of 255,796 tickets nationwide, accumulating Rs 7.46 crore on its opening day. Maharashtra leads in first-day bookings with Rs 1.32 crore, followed closely by Delhi and West Bengal at Rs 1.18 crore and Rs 99.13 crore, respectively.

Major cities like Hyderabad and Kolkata report occupancy rates of 26 percent, contributing Rs 83.95 lakh and Rs 74.45 lakh, respectively. In contrast, cities like Pune and Surat register lower occupancy at 7 percent and 3 percent, respectively. The National Capital Region (NCR) boasts the highest number of shows at 1,039, indicative of heightened interest.

According to Movie Hub, Dunki has outpaced Salaar in bookings, reaching $915,000, or Rs 7.6 crore, within five days, even without premiere shows. Projections indicate that by December 20, 2023, Dunki is expected to surpass Rs 12.5 crore, bringing its total bookings to over Rs 15 crore.

The path to surpassing Pathaan and Jawan records appears challenging for Dunki, given its distinct genre and the formidable competition it faces from Salaar at the box office.
