IT Department raids premises of liquor trading company linked to RS MP Dheeraj Sahu

In a notable operation, the Investigation Branch of the Odisha Income Tax Department orchestrated a meticulous search on Wednesday at the premises of the libation commerce entity, Bouddistillery Private Limited (BDPL), and its three associated enterprises. It is pertinent to highlight that BDPL maintains affiliations with Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Dheeraj Sahu. Commencing at approximately 7:00 in the morning, Income Tax officials zealously undertook the raids, focusing on four sites within Odisha and two in Jharkhand.

The areas subjected to scrutiny encompassed the directorial and locational facets of BDPL, strategically situated in the districts of Boudh, Raidih, Sambalpur, and Balangir within Odisha. Concurrently, the ambit of the raids extended to the corporate domains in Ranchi and Lohardaga, both situated in Jharkhand. The impetus behind this operation emanates from intelligence suggesting potential tax evasion by BDPL through the clandestine manipulation of its genuine business pursuits.

Operational details reveal the confiscation of cash and documentation relevant to commercial operations during the raid. The BDPL Group, headquartered in Odisha, encompasses four distinct entities—namely, BDPL, Baldev Sahu Infra Limited, Kwality Bottlers, and Kishore Prasad-Vijay Prasad Beverage Limited. While Baldev Sahu Infra Limited specializes in the production of fly ash bricks, the remaining triumvirate is engaged in the sphere of alcoholic beverage commerce.

The Income Tax Department, not confining its scrutiny to a singular entity, has broadened the purview of the investigation to encompass all entities constituting the expansive BDPL conglomerate. As the inquiry persists, additional intricacies are anticipated to surface as authorities delve deeper into the financial transactions of the entities under investigation.
