Russia’s Ambassador to India Asserts S-400 Deal as Exclusive Concern, Criticizes US

The S-400 Deal with India has sparked controversy, with Russia’s envoy emphasizing its sovereignty. Despite US pressure, the Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov reaffirmed India’s right to the S-400 defense system, dismissing potential sanctions.

Emphasizing New Delhi’s security interests, Alipov highlighted the insignificance of US sanctions threats on the bilateral military ties. The $5.43 billion agreement signed in October 2018 solidifies Russia-India cooperation amidst external pressures.

Alipov, speaking to Sputnik, expressed confidence in India’s stance against US sanctions. He noted India’s recent deployment of the S-400 Triumph system as evidence of its commitment.

Despite US warnings, India remains steadfast in its stance, defending the purchase as essential for its security. Alipov reiterated that the S-400 deal remains solely between Russia and India, denouncing external interference.

The CAATSA, aimed at Iran, North Korea, and Russia, allows US sanctions on nations procuring significant Russian defense equipment. Yet, India’s defiance underscores its strategic autonomy and rejection of external coercion.
